In our opinion, as well as being the highest via ferrata in France, it is without doubt one of the most beautiful. With a route that's neither too simple nor too complicated, neither too short nor too long, and with incredible views, it takes us far, far away.
You can do it on your own with the right equipment, or with the Courchevel-Méribel guide bureau.
To get there, take the lifts from Courchevel or Méribel-Mottaret.
Put on your trail running shoes or your hiking boots, put your favorite opinel and a good snack in the bag and set off to discover these sublime hikes through the mountains of the Parc de la Vanoise. On the program: turquoise high-altitude lakes, cute fauna, flora in 1000 shades, little balcony trails or on a ridge... Take in the sights with our 3 hiking ideas:
From Méribel-Mottaret | Lacs Mont Coua The pluses: the entire hike takes place in the National Park, so it's guaranteed to be 100% nature, ideal for disconnecting from the world around you; you can spot a pair of golden eagles at the Saut refuge; the 5 lakes, including the last one, nestled in a mineral setting, give you the impression of being on the high peaks of Patagonia, far, far away...
From the Lac de la Rosière in Courchevel, the Dent du Villard and then the crests of Mont Charvet. The plus points: the dolines at the summit, 360° views of the surrounding mountains. Certainly one of the finest hikes in the region!
From Courchevel 1650 | Les Lacs Merlets Plus: the variety of landscapes, the green of the mountain pastures, the fields of small flowers, the color of the lakes. And for the more adventurous, a splash in the cool waters of the upper lake!
You're probably an avowed connoisseur of the 3 Vallées ski area, but do you know it just as well in summer? Here are our 2 favorite spots!
ENDURO or DH | Les crêtes depuis Tougnete (The ridges from Tougnete) the most beautiful of all 2-wheel outings. With 2 downhill options: either a return to Méribel, or to the village of Les Allues via the Grand Lac, which, by the way, is large in name only.
The Col de la Loze loop stage of the Tour de France, and now a myth! Climb aboard your two-wheeler to take on this route, exclusively reserved for bikes, winding through the mountain pastures. You'll be riding on a mountain track without the fear of passing a single car, in the middle of nature and protected from all forms of pollution.
