Ski touring in Meribel: Tips and routes

Be the firstin the slopes

Experience a magical morning on the pistes when you join our First Tracks sessions, every Wednesday morning during the winter season. Be the first to see the sun’s rays kiss the mountaintops, ski on freshly groomed runs and enjoy a delicious breakfast: a truly memorable mountain experience.
  • Meet at 8:00am sharp by the Plattières gondola to ride up with the pisteurs. If you’re late, First Trackers won’t wait – sorry! 😉.
  • From 8:10 You’re at the summit! The first rays of the sun are just starting to illuminate the peaks, glowing a stunning pale pink. You have the ski area to yourselves, ready to fly down those freshly groomed slopes. A unique opportunity. It’s time to make your First Tracks and feel that fresh corduroy sliding beneath your skis! Please note that your descent is not guided. You will be using open, marked pistes which are secure and patrolled, and reserved exclusively for you, but you won’t be accompanied down. You should therefore have a level that allows you to ski the piste independently.
  • 8:25: second ride up Plattières then ski to the Sitelle restaurant where you will enjoy an excellent breakfast, mountain restaurant style.
Practical information
  • Places are limited: please note that the maximum number of places is limited to 40 people. Be sure to reserve your place in advance.
  • Price: €45 (per person)
  • The descent is via a red run. Exclusively reserved for those with a minimum of 3 stars – Class 2 and aged over 8 years (minors must be accompanied by an adult).

Sign up until midday on Tuesdays, at the Méribel-Mottaret sales office. For further assistance, please contact us on +33 4 79 08 99 52.

Meribel Gébroulaz

Encountering the largest glacier in the 3 Valleys on a day-long ski tour makes for a truly fantastic experience. Accessible via the Val Thorens ski lifts, you can slip on your harness and the rest of your safety equipment for around a 1.5 hour ascent. At the Col de Gébroulaz, you then descend towards the Méribel Valley between crevasses and seracs. The magical atmosphere and long descent will become a treasured memory.

Meribel Le Roc : Movement track

A newly marked ascent route for ski touring in Méribel

From the summit of the Chalets gondola, stick on your skins and follow the marks for an easy 2km excursion with a 370m ascent in the direction of Chalet du Lac. Once you arrive at the top, you can take a well-earned rest in the chalet (free access) and enjoy the view before skiing back down the pistes.

PLEASE NOTE! When the ski area is closed from 16:30 (or 17:00 from February onwards), it is forbidden to take this route. The piste grooming machines are in operation and may not be able to see you. On the steeper slopes, they are connected to winches in the middle of the slopes which are not visible in darkness.
