Paragliding in Méribel: Where to fly and how much it costs ?

What is paragliding and how does a flight take place?

Want a real breath of fresh air? In Méribel, paragliding promises to show you the mountains in a whole new way… and make you feel (almost) like a bird. This sport involves launching off a slope with a wing, using the wind’s power on the mountainside to lift you smoothly into the sky. From the 3 Valleys' slopes, you’ll soar over breathtaking landscapes: peaks, forests, meadows… Whether in tandem with an instructor or during an introductory session, everything is arranged for your safety and enjoyment. Thrills guaranteed, unforgettable memories… and often, one thought when you land: “Shall we go again?”

To discover paragliding, nothing could be easier: simply call on an instructor who will guide you through the whole experience, whether you're a beginner or already a fan. Before you take off, the instructor will explain each flight step and ensure you’re properly equipped for safety. You'll learn the right moves for a smooth launch.
The goal? To give you a moment of pure relaxation. Once airborne, all that’s left is to enjoy the stunning views and the feeling of weightlessness. And if you're craving a little more adrenaline, ask for a spin to add some excitement to your flight and leave with an even more memorable experience!

And the good news: no long hikes needed to reach the take-off points! In both summer and winter, the summits of Méribel are easily accessible thanks to the lifts. All you have to do is choose your winter or summer pass to suit your outing. A real comfort, saving you time, avoiding unnecessary effort, and allowing you to fully enjoy the experience. Whether you're skiing or dressed for a hike, just let yourself be guided to the top. Then? All that’s left is to take off, feet in the air, head in the clouds…

Why try the experience in Méribel?

In paragliding, Méribel reveals itself from a completely different perspective, whether in winter or summer:

  • In winter, the mountains are covered in snow, the ski slopes stretch as far as the eye can see, and the air is invigorating. With skis on your feet and the wing on your back, you gain altitude and soar over Méribel, with its snow-capped peaks and pristine Alpine landscapes stretching out to the horizon.

  • In summer, the scenery changes: it’s the perfect opportunity to fly over lush meadows, dense forests, and blooming alpine pastures, all while enjoying breathtaking views of Mont Blanc, Vanoise, and the 3 Valleys.

In every season, each flight offers a new way to rediscover the resort and marvel at the beauty of the surrounding mountains.

Who can go paragliding?
Paragliding in Méribel is for everyone! No physical requirements, and even children (from 7 years old) can fly thanks to specially adapted flights. It’s an adventure accessible to all, young and old!

Where are the main paragliding spots in Méribel?

Col de la Loze

Famous for its cyclists in summer and skiers in winter, Col de la Loze, at 2,300 meters above sea level, is a prime spot for paragliding enthusiasts. And the best part? You don’t need to be a pro to enjoy it! Accessible from Méribel or Courchevel—by the Loze or Dou des Lanches chairlifts in winter, and by road in summer—it’s the perfect place for a first flight. The setting is stunning, the conditions are ideal, and the atmosphere is just right to take off with confidence. Whether you’re here for a discovery flight or just to try it out, the view alone is well worth it!

La Saulire

Located at 2,740 meters above sea level, this spot is another must for taking off, easily accessible via the Pas du Lac gondola from Méribel Mottaret.

Once at the top, you’ll enjoy a clear view of Mont Blanc and the Courchevel resort—a breathtaking sight! And if the wind is just right, you can even extend your flight and let yourself be carried even farther, for an unforgettable flying experience.

Roc de Fer

Perched at 2,300 meters, this spot is a clear favorite among seasoned paragliders. The conditions here are often excellent: strong thermals, reliable lift—everything you need to stay in the air longer and truly enjoy the ride.

It’s the perfect place to gain altitude, carve some turns, and soak up the scenery. If you love long, high-flying adventures, this one’s for you!

Where to try a tandem paragliding flight – and how Much does it cost?

First flight

Never flown before? Why not try a tandem flight! Perfect for your first paragliding experience, this type of flight is done with a certified instructor who handles all the technical aspects and ensures your safety—no previous experience required. All you have to do is sit back and enjoy the adventure.

Prices start at around €90, depending on flight duration and the season. Most flights last 10 minutes or more.

The extra bonus? Some packages include photos or videos, so you can relive the experience anytime and share it with friends and family!

In Méribel, several providers offer tandem flights, including Tandemtop, Proneige Parapente, Aparapente, OverTheValley, Smiles Parapente, 3 Vallées Parapente, Airmax Parapente, and more. All that’s left to do is pick one—and take off!

Extended flight

For those who want to extend the experience and fully enjoy the Alpine landscapes of the Méribel valley, the long-duration flight is the perfect option. Whether you're a beginner or already experienced, this flight is suitable for everyone, but it mainly depends on the weather conditions, particularly thermals.

The average duration is 30 minutes or more, with prices starting from €150 - €200. It’s the perfect opportunity to fly higher, farther, and fully embrace the sensations of free flight in all its glory.

The providers mentioned earlier also offer this type of flight for those who want to go even further in the adventure.

Our tips for a successful flight

In winter, make sure to wear warm clothing: down jacket, ski pants, gloves, a thin hat to wear under the helmet, and sunglasses. Even on sunny days, it can be cold at altitude, so it’s best to dress warmly!

In summer, opt for light but appropriate clothing: windproof jacket, comfortable pants, and closed-toe shoes. It can still be chilly in the air, even if you're wearing shorts in the valley.

In the morning, it’s perfect for a first flight: the conditions are usually calmer, and the flight is smoother—ideal for a peaceful introduction.

In the afternoon, get ready for more thrills! Thermals are more active, and the flights are often longer and more dynamic. Perfect for those seeking a bit more adrenaline.

Méribel is an unmissable paragliding spot, accessible to everyone, whether you’re a beginner or simply looking for unique thrills. From tandem flights for a gentle first experience to long flights for fully enjoying the Alpine landscapes, there’s something for everyone. To make the most of your experience, it’s best to book in advance and choose the package that best suits your desires.
