My ski journal in Méribel: my favorite slopes for a perfect day on the slopes

My favorite slopes in Méribel-Mottaret

A day of skiing starts now—come along!

Hello, adventure and ski lovers! I’m @alicialenoir_. Passionate about the great outdoors and an outdoor content creator, I love sharing my mountain adventures with my community of 30,000 fellow explorers. I’m always on the lookout for hidden gems, and I can’t wait to share my discoveries with you.

Today, I’m taking over the blog to bring you along on a ski day in my favorite winter playground: Méribel. People often ask me about my secret spots for a perfect day on the slopes, so in this article, I’m sharing my favorite places and experiences at the resort.

Little Himalaya: the perfect playground to feel like a kid again

To start the day gently, I head from the Méribel-Mottaret base area via the Combes chairlift to get my legs moving. This is where you’ll find the Yéti Park, a fun area with easy runs where you might even come across Yooni, the resort’s mascot… an adorable yeti!

If you’re skiing with friends, you absolutely have to check out the Little Himalaya run. Between us, it’s hands down the best place to forget technique for a while and just have fun. The run is super playful, and I’ve lost count of the laughs we’ve had trying to overtake each other before the tunnels. Guaranteed trip back to childhood!

Back to the Wild: between adrenaline and a giant hammock

This time, we take things up a notch and head to the Roc de Tougne chairlift. The vibe changes with the Back to the Wild area, which offers some slightly more technical red and black runs.

My favorite reward after working up a sweat? At the bottom of the red Julie run, you’ll find the "Cabane du Lac". There’s a giant hammock waiting for us—just perfect for a little break while taking in the view before heading back out. You can easily find it on the trail map if you want to check it out yourself!

Summit of Col de la Chambre and panoramic views

We continue our exploration by taking the new, super-comfortable Côte Brune gondola. It drops us off at the summit of Col de la Chambre. From there, I love taking the blue Lac de la Chambre run. It’s a smooth glide that leads us straight to a crucial part of the day…

The must-do foodie break: Le Plan des Mains at the foot of Mont Vallon

How can you talk about a perfect ski day without stopping at Le Plan des Mains?

It’s clearly my go-to spot on the slopes—and for good reason: it’s an absolute delight!

  • For a quick stop, I head to the snack side to enjoy their delicious raclette-topped croque-monsieur. The perfect comfort food before hitting the slopes again.

  • For a more leisurely break, I settle in at the restaurant. There’s nothing better than savoring a good meal on the terrace in an idyllic setting with an attentive team.

Its location is perfect, right next to the Mont Vallon gondola.

My tip
After lunch, head up to the summit of Mont Vallon (we’re almost 3,000 meters up!) to take in the breathtaking view before skiing back down via the red Combe du Vallon run. The snow is always incredible there.

Afternoon at Col de la Loze: a life-size postcard

Next, we head to the legendary Col de la Loze via the chairlift of the same name. For me, it’s an unmissable summit if you want to soak in breathtaking panoramic views. Honestly, it feels like stepping straight into a snowy postcard.

It’s also here that I fell in love with the Pic Bleu run. It’s so enjoyable to ski—smooth, wild, and with that incredible sense of freedom I love so much in the mountains.

The must-visit spot at Roc de Fer

To end the day in style, head to the other end of the ski area: the summit of Roc de Fer (accessible via the Olympic chairlift, which also lets you cross over to Les Menuires afterward). It’s one of my favorite spots for a scenic break.

You’ll find giant wooden hearts facing the vastness of the Vanoise. Not only is it the perfect setting for beautiful photos, but the view is absolutely breathtaking. You overlook the entire valley, and if you’re lucky, you might catch a sea of clouds below.

Final word: why I’ll never get tired of Méribel

What I love about Méribel is the perfect balance between technical runs, spectacular summits, and foodie breaks in between breathtaking panoramas.

I hope this logbook inspires you for your next ski adventures! Grab your skis (and especially your appetite)—the peaks are waiting for you.
